Welcome to the website of St. Francis Church, Ashton Gate.

“Our prayer is that God will release energy among his people, deploy spiritual gifting and provide a refuge for healing and wholeness, with Christ at the centre.”
Revd Andrew Doarks (Priest-in-charge)

St Francis first sprang to life in the 1880’s to meet the needs of the new and expanding area of Ashton and Ashton Gate.  Serving the community remains a key aim for today’s St Francis Church. ’Warmth of Welcome’ is a hallmark of the church’s style, according to those who visited us from away and join us from our own community.  We aim to be all-inclusive and we rejoice in the age-range within the congregation, from just a few weeks to well… “looking forward to that Queen’s telegram”.

St Francis is a bright, modern building situated in the extremely popular area of North Street, Bedminster.  The present Church was consecrated in 1953, the original church having been destroyed in the air raid of Good Friday 1941.  We also have a newly refurbished Church Hall (see the specific menu item for more information).
